Artist Statement

My creative works are influenced by my curiosity in physics and technology. I explore the nature of light and reflection in my paintings by layering only one colour of paint onto glass to create depth and shadows. My artworks are painted in darkness and illuminated from behind to reveal every intention and mistake during the creation process.

This technique is inspired by perception. How we see objects or people is often based on our first impressions until we get to know them more and unveil their true character. My paintings are blank until you shine light through them.   Every mistake that is made remains on the artwork and cannot be erased.  This also represents the mistakes we make in our lives and how they become a part of us and are viewed by other people. My intention is to encourage the world to look beyond the first impression.

Last Farewell

For all of us, there will come a moment in which we must offer "The Last farewell". A moment in which we must acknowledge the existential emptiness that was once filled by a person dear to us. A person who has represented an important part of our lives, who has accompanied us in important moments, in the good and in the evil, and that now we are lacking.

These are both foreseen and unforeseeable moments as time passes and a once concrete existence succumbs to the "disappearance" of those who previously were and are now no longer. Those who can be forgotten through the flood of generations. Those who we allow to enter the human myth that contains our sacred explanation of ‘why?’.

The myth serves to explain all the important moments of human life. The myth explains the relationships between people, the meaning of life, what nature determines.

We all have our own representation of the myth and our own aptitude for understanding and elaborating it.  We can cry, laugh, swear, regret what we have said or not said, done or not done ... or we can search our way to understanding, comforted by the compassion of ourselves and others.

We can also give life to representative forms, forms in which we can express ourselves, our strong emotions that in reality represent our fragile state.

We can give life to testimonies that are forever, that do not slip away like tears, prayers or unresolved questions.

I chose to embed my testimony in my paintings, I chose to discover and share my disbelief, my suffering, my loneliness, and my experience with you.  To share our connection with the transcendent, a part of us that can survive every circumstance, a survival instinct for our memories and emotions, a dimension which makes us "great".

The inspiration for the collection is taken from personal experiences. This collection depicts the emotional process of loss and grief.
